Ann Karrick is a network news anchor and reporter, and a talk show
host/moderator, on both radio and television. Her career includes working for
CBS News, Fox News, and ION Media Networks, as well as several
well-known local stations owned by Connoisseur, Cumulus and iHeart. Karrick has covered a variety of
live breaking news stories, both in the anchor chair and on the scene,
including major sporting events such as the Olympic Games and World
Figure Skating Championships to local news. Her professionalism and calm
demeanor, much appreciated by audiences during times of crisis. Karrick excels at articulating
and explaining complex issues, and using her interview skills to
illuminate a topic or moderate a panel of experts. Karrick combines extensive business
and corporate experience with her broadcasting expertise to better inform her
audience. Her experience in information technology, marketing, sports, and
public relations give her a unique perspective on current events and news
stories. As both host and producer of talk
shows, Karrick is adept at researching a topic, finding an expert guest,
preparing questions, and conducting an interview. She has knowledge and
contacts for a wide variety of issues. Major market positions in
Karrick’s career include 1010 WINS in New York, WBZ Newsradio 1030 in Boston, WTIC 1080 News in
Hartford, along with WFAS, WEBE 108 and WICC 600 in the New York listening
area. She provides television reports for Fox Edge and
ORTV’s Crossroads Magazine, and hosted a network television show for
three years on ION. Karrick
is an advisory board member of Brave Enough to Fail (BETF), where she
uses her depth of experience to offer sound and impartial advice on matters
related to news, media, marketing, and communications. She also works with
clients as a strategic publicist, increasing awareness through
intentional marketing, connections, appearances, and media coverage. As a moderator on election
days, Karrick runs a polling location, managing a team of poll workers. She
has dealt with fights between candidates at the polling location, a voter
arriving with a side arm, an active fire in the building requiring
evacuation, and many other obstacles, all while ensuring uninterrupted voting
and adherence to all voting laws. In the executive offices of Saga
Communications, Karrick used her technology skills to help improve
station programming and ratings, designing and creating detailed data
analysis comparison reports for stations across the country. Her programs
and reports later were shared with developers at a data service company,
allowing any subscribing station to generate similar reports for their own
market. Before entering broadcasting,
Karrick worked for IBM, AT&T, Golf Digest, and Advantage
International (now Octagon), a sports marketing company, as well as public
relations and advertising agencies. Karrick’s public relations
expertise was key in having Nutmeg Curling Club featured on a holiday special
of No Reservations with the late Anthony Bourdain. She also
served as a skiing Killington Mountain Ambassador for eight years, managing a
team on the mountain and assisting ski patrol in emergency situations.
She was part of the inaugural class of her town’s Community Emergency
Response Team (CERT). Karrick was the chairperson of
Fairfield Network of Executive Women, and served as president of the IBM Club
overseeing both required and elective events for 500 IBM employees and
their families. Karrick is a Cum Laude graduate
of Hollins University with a degree in Computational Sciences and has
a certificate in Financial Management from the IBM Advanced Business
Institute. Having lived in Paris and Miami, Karrick speaks French and limited
