Broadcasting On-Air Ann Karrick is an experienced talk show host, news anchor, and
business woman. She combines her experience from television, radio, IBM,
AT&T, Golf Digest, Olympic Games, and more, to shine a light on current
events, news headlines, trending topics, and stories that are being
overlooked. Twice, Karrick has been selected in a Best Local Radio
Personality poll.
Broadcasting History Karrick has been working in the television and radio
broadcasting industry since 1996, when she volunteered to report live from
the Olympic Games in Atlanta for
WWYZ in Hartford. A few years later, she reported live for WPKN in Bridgeport
and WELI in New Haven from the French Quarter at Mardi Gras
in New Orleans. These assignments were followed by a regular news
anchor/reporter position with the morning news team at a news/talk radio station in the greater New York City area. Karrick
provided live coverage from breaking and lead
stories, when not anchoring
the news. At the same time Karrick began hosting episodes of Women In Business TV, in part
producing her own shows. Based on her work at Women In Business TV, Karrick was asked to host episodes of Issues and Answers, a live television show out of New Haven. Karrick was hired as the regular full-time co-host for the morning show at Q105 in New London, which included news responsibilities. She
was live on the air the morning of September
11, 2001, and provided critical information to New London,
Groton, Mystic, and the community surrounding the Naval Nuclear Submarine
Base in Groton. During her time in New London, Karrick worked closely with
both Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods® Resort & Casino. She did several
appearances at both casinos and at the naval base. Karrick’s next stop was back in the greater New York area at WFAS, WEBE and WICC, where she became a
frequent news
anchor on both the AM and FM
stations, hosting news and entertainment talk shows, and even providing
commuter traffic reports. Her work included morning show co-anchor and news,
specialty news-block talk shows, election coverage, and of course
on-the-scene coverage for breaking news and critical events. During a five month assignment as the morning show news anchor on WEBE & WICC the stations
achieved a combined share of 22.9
and WEBE was named "Radio
Station of the Year," earning an R&R Industry Achievement
Award. While continuing her work at WFAS, WEBE and WICC, Karrick was
named the host and producer of For The Record a national weekly network television
talk show on ION Media Networks (formerly PAX-TV and Paxson). Karrick hosted and produced more than 150 television shows for ION,
managing guests, topics, research, and legal filings for each show. After leaving For The Record, Karrick continued to anchor news and host talk shows in the greater
New York area. Karrick also was a co-host
and the producer of This Week with Ann Karrick & Vincent Caprio, a live weekly radio talk show
focusing on current events and business issues. In addition to on-air positions, Karrick consults in the
corporate programming office for Saga Communications, working with program
directors across the country for Saga owned radio stations, providing data
analysis comparison to help local program directors improve their on-air
product and be more successful against local competition. Karrick continues to do on-air work and data analysis work in
broadcasting, as well as marketing, media and public relations consulting
work.
